Backup and import

Move configuration without guessing what will change.

Export all or selected settings to a local file. Before an import changes browser storage, ActionHelm previews the contents and identifies duplicates or conflicts.

Export a backup

Open Dashboard → Backup and dataChoose a complete or selective export.
Select the contentExport everything for a complete configuration backup, or choose individual commands, groups, and environments.
Download the fileKeep it somewhere appropriate for the sensitivity of the URLs and prepared content it contains.

An export may contain private configuration

ActionHelm does not transmit it, but the downloaded file can include internal URLs, command templates, matrix variables, and prepared clipboard content. Review it before sharing.

Import configuration

Choose an ActionHelm export fileThe file is read locally.
Review the previewInspect the commands, groups, environments, and relationships detected in the file.
Review duplicates and conflictsUse the preview to avoid creating unintended copies or overwriting a different item.
Select what to importApply only the items you want, then confirm the import.

After importing, open Commands, Groups, and Environments to confirm that generated commands and group assignments match your intention.

Recommended backup routine

Export after a major matrix or command reorganization.
Export before replacing a browser profile or reinstalling the extension.
Keep one known-good complete backup.
Test a restored setup in a separate browser profile when the configuration is business-critical.

Configuration only

The export contains commands, environments, and command groups. Recent-command history and usage statistics remain local to the browser profile and are not included.
